A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
The 2017 Shanghai ATP Masters, held at Qizhong Tennis Center for nine days with daily crowds over 15,000, required a robust wireless infrastructure to support hundreds of media professionals, photographers and staff. Organizers needed an easy-to-install, simple-to-manage and cost‑effective Wi‑Fi solution to overcome high device density and local wireless interference so reporters and editors could reliably deliver live footage and high‑definition photos under tight deadlines.
Working with China Telecom, Ruckus deployed indoor and outdoor access points and controllers across the venue in about a month, using technologies like Beamflex+, smart roaming and band steering to maximize coverage with fewer APs and less cabling. The network delivered stable, high‑speed performance—each AP supported nearly 400 terminals daily, about 339 GB of Wi‑Fi traffic per day with ~70% mobile—enabling seamless live broadcasts and rapid photo transfers while reducing total cost of ownership and easing network management.
