American University of Sharjah Deploys Massive Campus-Wide Smart Wi-Fi Infrastructure , Improving Client Density and Wi-Fi Performance

American University of Sharjah (AUS), a leading higher-education institution in the Arabian Gulf with more than 6,000 students and a 200‑acre campus, was overwhelmed by a rapid rise in Wi‑Fi users and mobile devices. Its legacy, piecemeal wireless infrastructure could not deliver the coverage, capacity, BYOD support or centralized management needed for high‑density lecture halls, dormitories and outdoor spaces.

AUS implemented a campus-wide Ruckus ZoneFlex solution—over 1,400 dual‑band indoor/outdoor access points and ZoneDirector controllers—deployed in phases by FOSS. The unified, centrally managed network delivered stronger, ubiquitous coverage, improved high‑density performance, integrated BYOD support and lower total cost of ownership, while reducing fault calls and providing reliable carrier‑class Wi‑Fi across the campus.
