Digital River, a Minneapolis-based provider of global ecommerce technology serving brands like Samsung and Adobe, ran critical customer-facing applications on multiple Apache Cassandra clusters. Native Cassandra replication and their script-driven backup approach couldn’t provide point-in-time recovery, added operational complexity, and drove high secondary storage costs while failing to meet different SLAs for dozens of keyspaces and tables.

Digital River deployed a highly available 3-node Rubrik Mosaic cluster to deliver application-consistent, granular backups and automated restores across five Cassandra clusters. The solution protected 61 keyspaces/column families with five active backup schedules, delivered point-in-time recovery and streaming restores with no performance impact on nodes, and reduced secondary storage costs by 60%.
