City of Breda Accelerates Towards Hybrid Cloud for Backup and Recovery with Rubrik

The City of Breda, a Dutch municipality of about 185,000 residents supporting 3,400 users and 2,200 devices with an 18‑person IT team, struggled with a fragmented, labor‑intensive backup environment and an outdated tape library. The legacy solution was unreliable and time‑consuming—consuming over 50 hours per week to maintain—and put the city’s disaster recovery readiness at risk.

By deploying Rubrik the municipality implemented automated, policy‑driven backups, granular restores and Live Mount, and seamless integration with Microsoft Azure. The migration finished in one to two weeks, backup management time dropped to about 3–4 hours per week, RTOs fell to near zero, admins regained confidence, and the team now has capacity to focus on automation and cloud initiatives.
