A Rubrik Case Study
Ayla Networks, a leading IoT platform that connects devices to cloud applications and analyzes time-series appliance data, was using a scripted snapshot backup for its AWS-hosted DataStax Cassandra clusters. The scripted approach proved hard to scale, fragile in the face of node failures, and storage-inefficient, forcing significant manual effort from DevOps and putting critical customer-facing data at risk.
Ayla deployed a three-node Rubrik Mosaic cluster across multiple AWS Availability Zones to provide native failure handling, fast recoveries, and simple operations. By using Mosaic with low‑cost Amazon S3 for secondary storage, Ayla cut secondary storage costs by roughly 67%, improved resiliency and recovery times, and freed DevOps to focus on developing their IoT platform.
