Veteran Compost - Customer Case Study

Veteran Compost, a veteran-founded composting and hauling company serving Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C., needed a way to scale its efforts to divert food scraps and organics from landfills and incinerators. Working with Rubicon since 2016, the company aligned with Rubicon’s mission to end waste while expanding its collection and processing capacity.

Rubicon supported Veteran Compost’s circular-economy operations by helping connect the company with hauling opportunities for food waste, compostables, and other organic material. The partnership has helped Veteran Compost grow its impact through vertically integrated composting, clean-bin swaps, and acceptance of roll-offs, compactors, and tractor-trailer loads at its Aberdeen facility. With more than 25 employees, 15 trucks, and a third facility under construction, Veteran Compost is on track to double the business over the next five years.
