A Rubicon Case Study

Preview of the City of Irving Case Study

City of Irving pilots RubiconSmartCity across 40 vehicles serving 42,000 locations

The City of Irving partnered with Rubicon to implement its RUBICONSmartCity platform in a six-month pilot program. The city's challenge was to optimize its waste, recycling, and brush collection operations for its fleet of 40 vehicles servicing 42,000 locations. Key goals included generating data to improve route efficiency and collecting documentation on the volume of materials picked up to help establish new programs.

Rubicon's solution involved deploying its platform, which included a smartphone/tablet application and an on-board computer plug-in device for data collection, along with a cloud-based manager portal for analytics. The Rubicon team provided in-person training for drivers and managers on using the technology. The implementation aimed to streamline operations, leading to significant potential improvements in the city's cleanliness, safety, and the lives of its 240,000 residents.
