Case Study: Iowa State University achieves industry-ready logistics professionals with Ruan

Partnering in the development of tomorrow’s logistics professionals

Ruan partnered with Iowa State University in 2014 to address a talent gap: the industry needed specialists trained on Oracle Transportation Management (OTM), a powerful but complex transportation management platform not commonly taught in academia. ISU, a leader in supply chain education, became the first—and remains the only—academic licensor of OTM to give students hands-on access to industry-standard tools.

Ruan provided an academic license, built course data sets, trained faculty, and supplied expert speakers so OTM was embedded into ISU’s required Principles of Transportation course. In six semesters the program has trained more than 500 students, creating a pipeline of job-ready graduates, strengthening the regional OTM community, and helping Ruan and other employers hire candidates already experienced with real-world transportation management systems.
