Airgas Breathes Easy With Ruan Partnership

Airgas Merchant Gases, a supplier of industrial, medical and specialty gases to hospitals, water plants and manufacturers, needed a reliable, safety-focused transportation solution that would support growth while avoiding the overhead of driver management, maintenance and recruitment. Expanding into new locations and hauling hazardous products created operational and staffing challenges that could distract from Airgas’s core business.

Ruan has managed Airgas’s end-to-end transportation since 1992—providing drivers, a dedicated fleet (47 tractors, 59 trailers, 85 drivers covering about 7.3 million miles annually), maintenance and recruitment—enabling seamless expansions in Bethlehem and Chester, a shared maintenance arrangement with Linde, and rapid staffing in Waukesha. The partnership delivered safe, on-time service with no interruptions, freeing Airgas to focus on growth and customer service.
