A Ruan Case Study
Bobcat Company, a manufacturer of skid‑steer loaders, compact excavators and attachments, was struggling to get product to dealers reliably. Shipping directly from three U.S. plants caused late deliveries, multiple carrier stops, costly less‑than‑truckload shipments and dealer downtime, limiting carrier options and reducing visibility into shipments.
Ruan solved this by routing Bobcat product through its Brooklyn Park Consolidation and Distribution Center for cross‑docking and merge‑in‑transit, using scanning, inventory linkage and route‑building software to optimize loads and provide dealer track‑and‑trace updates. The partnership eliminated LTLs, cut average stops to 2.4, achieved a 117% payload factor and a 99% on‑time delivery rate, reducing costs, improving visibility and enabling new product assembly at the RCDC.
