Rio Tinto’s Argyle Diamond Mine, one of the world’s largest diamond producers, faced a critical challenge in accurately capturing and analyzing production delays after its in‑house delay accounting system became unsupportable when the developer left. Inconsistent, text‑based event entries and a need for a scalable, searchable system that could classify delays and fit a limited budget made it hard to identify trends and measure plant utilization.

Argyle implemented RTech Software’s RtDUET, a downtime‑focused solution that integrates with the site historian, provides data validation, and delivers Excel‑based reports that translate downtime into dollar impact. The system improved delay capture, made events searchable and classifiable, and enabled ongoing enhancements (automated alarm codes and cascading upstream/downstream events) to reduce manual coding and continuously improve plant utilization and efficiency.
