RTI Enables Plath to Bring Open-Standards Integration to Communications Intelligence (COMINT) Systems

PLATH GmbH, an internationally recognized specialist in intelligence systems, needed a way to tightly integrate its next-generation Intelligence Control and Analysis System with third-party ISR subsystems. As ISR environments became more connected and required secure sharing across agencies and nations, PLATH needed open-standards middleware that could deliver high performance, scalability, bandwidth efficiency, and support for SOA-based application development. It turned to RTI and RTI Connext DDS for the communication and integration backbone.

RTI Connext DDS, based on the OMG DDS standard, gave PLATH the open-standards integration layer it needed and delivered the highest performance and best bandwidth utilization in PLATH’s tests, using as little as 10 percent bandwidth in the worst case. The solution also scaled well as system complexity grew, enabling PLATH to build a modular, high-performance SOA platform for COMINT and launch its SMS2040 signal monitoring system as the foundation for its SMS 2000/5000 product line. RTI’s middleware helped PLATH achieve a major boost in performance and meet its growing integration and scalability requirements.
