A RTI Case Study
Plasan, a global leader in vehicle protection solutions for defense and security forces, wanted to build next-generation armored vehicles that were NGVA-compliant and capable of secure, rapid vehicle-to-vehicle communication. To meet this challenge, the company needed an open, DDS-based integration platform that could connect complex vehicle systems and subsystems across different hardware and operating environments, and it chose RTI Connext DDS as the core connectivity framework.
Using RTI Connext DDS, Plasan developed an open vehicle architecture that supports interoperability, smart vehicle integration, and secure real-time information exchange. The solution helped Plasan become the first company in Israel to build NGVA-compliant armored vehicles, and its prototype won praise at a military exposition in 2015 for its design and connectivity capabilities. RTI also enabled Plasan to move toward future autonomous functionality and smart power management using Connext DDS Micro, giving the company a practical foundation for continued innovation.
