Case Study: the Ugandan Government unlocks €183.3 million for climate-resilient water supply with RSK Group

A RSK Group Case Study

Ugandan Government unlocks €183.3 million and delivers safe water to 1.8 million people with RSK Group

The Ugandan Government faced the challenge of securing international funding for its Strategic Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Project. To unlock financing, the project's environmental and social impact assessments needed to be upgraded to comply with stringent International Finance Corporation and Equator Principles standards, a complex task given the differences between national and international regulations. The government engaged the RSK Group for its engineering and design consulting services to bridge this gap.

RSK Group delivered a comprehensive solution by deploying a multidisciplinary team to conduct a gap analysis and create an addendum to the ESIA. They aligned the project with all required standards and developed a framework of environmental and social management plans within a rapid 12-week timeframe. As a result, the RSK Group successfully secured financing clearance, unlocking over €183.3 million in investment. This enabled the delivery of sustainable, safe water to 1.8 million people and embedded stronger climate resilience and social inclusivity into the project's design.
