Thermal Printing Solves Label Process Problems

Large UV Ink Manufacturing Company, a UV ink manufacturer with five locations across the continental U.S., needed a better labeling process for three different container sizes. Its previous impact-printed labels from RR Donnelley were hard to apply, vulnerable to cleaning solvents, and difficult to remove for recycling.

RR Donnelley designed a direct thermal VIP label solution with a full varnish overcoat and rounded corners, and recommended wide-throat direct thermal printers plus labeling software to generate variable data that would not smear or wash off. The integrated solution met all requirements, and the manufacturer ordered 465 million labels in three sizes, along with two thermal printers and labeling software.
