A RR Donnelley Case Study
Multi-functional Cartons Retail Company worked with RR Donnelley to solve a packaging challenge for newly developed reusable clothing patches. The company needed a high-end carton that could display both two-dimensional patches and a three-dimensional glue stick on store fixtures, while also accommodating a large number of graphic variations and keeping the contents upright inside a limited windowed package.
RR Donnelley created a multi-functional carton insert using pop-up tabs to hold the patches, a paperboard tray with a slot for the glue stick, a viewing window, and semi-tamper-proof packaging. The design improved product display and usability, and RRD noted that future volume growth could allow a switch to a plastic tray, reducing cost, eliminating the paperboard tray and film laminate, and enabling a more rigid package with faster fulfillment.
