A large Midwestern University needed a faster, lower-cost way to issue temporary and permanent parking passes for its 50,000 students and staff. RR Donnelley was brought in to replace the outdated handwritten, multi-step process with a more streamlined digital, print-on-demand approach using parking pass decals.

RR Donnelley implemented a laser-compatible decal solution built into a single 8½ x 11 document, laminated front and back and featuring UV ink for added counterfeit protection. The new process made pass issuance easier and automatically entered data into the university’s system, improving tracking, giving the decals a more professional look, and helping campus enforcement identify parking violators more effectively. The project also led to additional business for RR Donnelley in the form of bike tags.
