The customer needed a way to protect its parts and reduce warranty, service, and trust losses caused by substandard counterfeit goods.

RR Donnelley implemented a label-based brand protection solution that combined overt, covert, and forensic security features, including microline, thermochromic ink, holograms, fluorescent inks, special papers, and a supplier-exclusive covert marker. RR Donnelley produced six label sizes and enabled online ordering and tracking to help compare label usage with parts usage. The result was a stronger authentication process for customs and a reduction in counterfeit activity, helping lower costs tied to bogus parts and support revenue growth for genuine parts.
