A RR Donnelley Case Study
Large Print And Logistics Company, a New York area hospital magazine publisher, needed a way to keep producing its quarterly 9-by-12-inch, 20-page saddle-stitched magazine while reducing mailing and production costs. RR Donnelley reviewed the print and bindery workflow and identified an opportunity to streamline the process by moving address imaging from offline to in-line production.
RR Donnelley implemented the in-line imaging solution at a nearby print plant with the needed capabilities, merged two hospital databases, and mailed the magazines to 162,000 recipients. The change delivered significant cost savings, helped move the business from the prior printer to RR Donnelley, and later enabled additional savings by reducing the magazine size to better fit RR Donnelley’s 22¼-inch web press cut-off, lowering paper waste and improving press efficiency.
