RR Donnelley's Label Solutions division was engaged by Collectible Grading Company, which sought to incorporate near field communication (NFC) technology into its collectible labels. The customer needed a fully integrated label that also included security and authentication features to streamline its data management process, but had been unable to find a vendor capable of delivering this solution.

RRD developed and provided a secure, NFC-enabled RFID label that combined an NFC inlay for consumer engagement, a security icon for staff authentication, and the ability to print both fixed and variable information. This solution resulted in increased consumer engagement and security, improved inventory tracking and control, and printing feasibility, all at a reasonable cost to the client.
