Automated Ordering Solution Improves Inventory Management

Large Healthcare System, a healthcare organization with more than a dozen medical clinics, was struggling to manage forms, labels, and commercial print needs across multiple vendors. Too many employees were creating their own forms and copies, making it difficult to maintain standardization, quality control, and inventory control. The system wanted each clinic to manage its own printed materials while still keeping centralized oversight, and it was interested in RR Donnelley’s CustomPoint e-procurement ordering system.

RR Donnelley implemented CustomPoint as the centralized online ordering platform, allowing authorized personnel at each clinic to order forms, labels, stationery, business cards, and other print products using P-cards. High-volume items were stocked in the customer’s warehouse, while print jobs were routed to the nearest RR Donnelley facility and shipped directly to the clinics. As a result, RR Donnelley became the sole vendor, improving ordering convenience, reducing obsolescence, and strengthening inventory management through centralized ordering, pre-loaded files, and on-screen status, inventory, and usage reporting.
