Tier One Gold Miner Improves Fleet Efficiencies with HAULSIM

Gold Producer Company, a Tier One gold miner with operations in Canada, Finland and Mexico, needed to boost productivity, reduce costs and optimise haulage fleet selection across multiple sites. The team had to answer specific questions about shaft impacts, optimal fleet size, truck cycle times (including a ~70 km Mexico haul), congestion points and the cost impact of newly acquired trucks, and selected RPMGlobal’s HAULSIM as the haulage simulation solution.

RPMGlobal deployed HAULSIM’s discrete-event simulation to model equipment behaviour, run “what-if” scenarios and validate plans without financial risk. Using HAULSIM the company built a Finland base model in 5 days (vs a third‑party study that took 6+ months), produced 10 scenarios in one week from a single calibrated model (previously 2 scenarios in ~3.5 weeks via spreadsheets), identified an ore pass that reduced congestion and saved capital while increasing production, determined optimal truck and scoop fleets, and enabled users to be productive in about 3 days—standardising haulage simulation across the global operations.
