Tailored approach underpins successful delivery of complex PFS for Turkish mining company

Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (EÜAŞ), Turkey’s largest state-owned power producer, engaged RPMGlobal to deliver a pre-feasibility study (PFS) for an 1,800 MW coal-fired power project at Afşin‑Elbistan. The assignment faced complex geological and hydrological conditions (including river relocations), remote logistics, high-capital equipment requirements and the need to ensure coal quality and safety while delivering an economically viable development schedule.

RPMGlobal led a consortium with MIBRAG and ARDEF, deploying a global team to provide tailored consulting and engineering solutions—including innovative geotechnical and dewatering designs and an optimized hybrid mining plan (bucket‑wheel and truck‑and‑shovel operations). The PFS produced robust pit and mine designs, large-scale dewatering and geological plans, coal specification controls for the thermal plant and a viable development schedule for the 1,800 MW project, demonstrating RPMGlobal’s ability to deliver measurable technical and economic outcomes for EÜAŞ.
