A RPMGlobal Case Study
Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Limited (BCMCL) engaged RPMGlobal for Consulting & Advisory Services to deliver a feasibility study for the Dighipara Coal Field in Bangladesh. The deposit posed highly challenging geological, hydrogeological and geotechnical conditions — including a deep, weathered Dupi Tilla formation hosting high‑flow artesian aquifers — and modelling indicated potential mine water make nearly two orders of magnitude above comparable operations, creating a pressing need for an engineered water‑management solution.
RPMGlobal, in consortium with Fugro and Mibrag, ran a three‑year, adaptive programme combining 60 fully cored boreholes, a 3D seismic survey, laboratory coal and gas testing, and advanced geotechnical and hydrogeological numerical modelling to produce a resource model and Statement of Coal Resources. RPMGlobal delivered an end‑to‑end feasibility study, Statement of Coal Reserves and environmental and social impact assessment, plus a robust mine design and production schedule that incorporated water‑management mitigations, de‑risked operations and established a stable, regulator‑ready production profile for BCMCL.
