Social Chain, a fast-paced global social media marketing agency based in Manchester, needed to expand internationally after securing $2m in funding. To support this growth and meet the expectations of its German investors, the company needed to build a senior leadership team and strengthen financial reporting and controls. Rowan was retained to help appoint a new Head of Financial Reporting.

Rowan ran a rigorous search and assessment process to find a candidate who matched both Social Chain’s entrepreneurial culture and the required financial discipline. Rowan appointed David Cawley, who went on to build and lead Social Chain’s first finance function into a seven-person team, support a 900% increase in international revenue from £7m to £18m, and help deliver the company’s listing on the Dusseldorf Stock Exchange in 2019.
