The University of Michigan needed to remedy reliability and resiliency issues at its central power plant and remote substations, which were not adequately equipped to handle harsh weather events or utility outages. To avoid major incidents impacting its 3000+ acre campus and neighboring medical center, the university engaged RoviSys to design and implement a Power Preservation System.
RoviSys designed and implemented a Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories-based control system that performs complex microgrid control functions. The solution has delivered measurable operational improvements and cost efficiencies, reducing reliance on manual intervention and increasing confidence in system response during abnormal conditions across the entire 13.2kV electrical system.
