How Whistl Utilized Routesmart to Expand Their Delivery Service

Whistl, a UK mail and parcel delivery company (formerly TNT Post) expanding into national final‑mile delivery and creating thousands of jobs, needed a GIS‑based planning tool to design efficient, household‑level postal routes and meet strict service targets. To support its end‑to‑end delivery launch, Whistl selected RouteSmart Technologies’ RouteSmart for ArcGIS to sequence deliveries to the household level and integrate with PAF/Ordnance Survey base data.

RouteSmart Technologies’ solution (deployed with local partner ISL) automated and optimized route creation, enabled flexible two‑hour routes and sequencing for sortation machines, and provided clear maps and customizable instruction booklets for carriers. The system has produced approximately 2,370 routes to date, dramatically reduced route production time while maintaining route quality, improved site selection and planning visibility, and supported Whistl’s ongoing rollout and scaling plans.
