A Route4Me Case Study
Down Syndrome Association of the Northern Territory Inc. (DSANT) is a not-for-profit in the Northern Territory, Australia, that supports people with intellectual disabilities through programs like Cash for Containers, which currently runs four routes with over 90 stops and relies on about 10 staff and 30 volunteers. Planning routes with GPS and Google Maps took 2–3 hours per route and volunteer drivers frequently got lost, turning routes that should take one 5–6 hour day into 8-hour days or 2–3 day efforts. To solve this, DSANT turned to Route4Me’s route planning and mobile app with turn-by-turn directions.
Using Route4Me, route planning now takes about 30 minutes (down from 2–3 hours), addresses are quickly imported, and drivers receive turn-by-turn directions so days stay predictable and routes fit into a single volunteer shift. Route4Me’s solution has enabled DSANT to scale up—adding more routes, volunteers and participants—leading to more recycling and program growth, while saving time and reducing lost driving.
