Sunrise Cafe New Haven Provide Non-Perishable, Shelf-Stable Meals

Sunrise Cafe New Haven, led by administrator Arthur Hunt and a member of the Coordinated Food Assistance Network, provides non-perishable, shelf-stable meals to roughly 2,000 low-income, food-insecure, high-COVID-risk families around New Haven, CT, and has served free breakfasts to the homeless since 2015. When the cafe began using deliveries to extend reach, Arthur found he could not efficiently plan routes without predefining drivers or vehicle capacity until adopting Route4Me’s routing platform and mobile apps.

After testing multiple routing apps, Sunrise Cafe selected Route4Me; the vendor’s optimization platform and mobile tools synchronized routes, enabled driver communication, and simplified volunteer planning. With Route4Me, deliveries scaled from about 20 families to over 2,000 using the same staff plus 300+ volunteer drivers, helping the organization keep up with demand, recruit the right number of volunteers each week, deliver more food around town, and save significant costs.
