MADA Community Center Helps Disadvantaged Community Members

The MADA Community Center is a volunteer-based organization that delivers meals, food baskets, furniture and clothing to disadvantaged community members. During the pandemic MADA’s new home-delivery program for the elderly struggled with planning time-efficient multi-driver routes and fairly distributing deliveries while accounting for each volunteer car’s package capacity, so they turned to Route4Me’s route optimization platform to create optimized routes and assign drivers quickly.

Route4Me implemented its proprietary optimization engine and Address Territory Management tools to build optimally sized routes that account for driver availability and vehicle carrying capacity and to visually assign drivers to neighborhoods. As a result, MADA cut route-planning time from 4–5 hours twice a week to 30 minutes twice a week (about a 90% reduction, from up to ~10 hours/week to ~1 hour/week), reduced volunteer driving hours, and improved volunteer retention and overall operational productivity.
