A Roundtrip Case Study
Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS), the public health system for Contra Costa County, California, needed a better way to manage transportation for its CommunityConnect case management program. With more than 12,000 people enrolled and over one-third of them needing transportation, CCHS’s taxi voucher-based process was costly, unreliable, and time-consuming for staff. Roundtrip helped address this challenge by integrating transportation booking directly into CCHS’s Epic EHR workflow.
Using Roundtrip’s EHR-integrated transportation platform, CCHS case managers could book rides without leaving Epic, while Roundtrip’s Navigation Center handled coordination support. The result was faster ordering, improved patient satisfaction from 4.0 to 4.66, over 4,000 rides in the first six months, and more than 3,500 calls diverted from case management staff. Roundtrip also helped CCHS reduce transportation costs by about 20%, saving approximately $15,000 per month.
