A Roth IAMS Case Study
The Township of Severn, a municipal government, partnered with vendor Roth IAMS to conduct an Accessibility Assessment. The challenge was to identify and address accessibility barriers across 12 municipal facilities to comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and work towards a provincial goal of a barrier-free environment by 2025.
Roth IAMS implemented a comprehensive solution by developing a detailed checklist based on AODA standards and the Ontario Building Code, while also referencing additional design standards to address gaps. This thorough assessment methodology successfully identified barriers and provided the Township with the findings needed to integrate accessibility improvements into its capital asset management plan, contributing to its goal of creating an inclusive, barrier-free built environment.
