EY faced slow, costly accounts-payable processing using a traditional OCR provider that required manual, vendor-specific templates and heavy ongoing maintenance, which prevented reaching high automation levels (90%+). To solve this, EY partnered with Rossum and deployed Rossum’s AI invoice data-capture product, Elis, alongside EY’s automation tools and finance know‑how.

Rossum’s Elis uses machine learning to read and structure invoices without handcrafted templates, eliminating setup and maintenance work and continuously learning new formats. As a result, template setup/adjustment time dropped to 0 hours; EY onboarded the first customer in 4 hours and each subsequent customer in 1 hour, with 0 hours spent training client staff—delivering higher accuracy and greater end‑to‑end automation across invoice booking, payment processing, bank clearing and audit trails.
