Cognitive Invoice Data Capture Enables Invoice Automation Within DMS

The DMS Providing Company, a provider of document management systems, sought to expand its service offerings beyond EDI invoice processing to include a complete automation solution for PDF and scanned invoices for its clients. Their existing system required manual handling for these non-EDI documents, creating a gap in their service capabilities. To overcome this challenge, they turned to vendor Rossum and its Elis cognitive data capture service.

The solution was to integrate Rossum's Elis API directly into the DMS provider's existing Orion platform. This implementation enabled the automatic extraction of data from scanned and PDF invoices without the need for templates, handling diverse and previously unseen layouts with high accuracy. The extracted data is seamlessly delivered back to the system for client validation before being sent to their ERP systems. By using Rossum, the DMS provider successfully automated its entire invoice processing workflow, allowing it to offer a new, complex value-added service to its client base.
