Leclerc Foods - Customer Case Study

Leclerc Foods, a Quebec City–based cookie and snack manufacturer with about 650 employees and sales in 20+ countries, needed to build a bilingual workforce to improve communication across its Canadian and U.S. sites. Prior classroom programs failed to meet objectives, so the company sought a flexible, motivating solution that would let English- and French-speaking employees learn anytime, anywhere and apply language skills on the job.

In September 2011 Leclerc implemented Rosetta Stone TOTALe, requiring learners to register, deposit $100 (refunded if progress targets were met), complete five hours/month in Rosetta Course and six Rosetta Studio sessions over 12 months, with progress managed via Rosetta Stone Manager and licenses reassigned quarterly if needed. The online program enabled learners to hold phone calls and meetings in the target language, saved the company more than 48% per learner versus classroom instruction, expanded participation by 150%, and now reaches over 10% of employees to strengthen internal communication.
