How Publiek Vervoer evaluates travel under the social support art by linking encrypted sensitive personal data from 7 municipalities

Publiek Vervoer Groningen Drenthe, a public transport organization, needed to analyze encrypted and siloed sensitive travel data from seven different municipalities to better understand user behavior and reduce reliance on its subsidized taxi service. The challenge was to conduct this analysis in a GDPR-compliant manner without directly sharing the confidential personal data between the various parties. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Roseman Labs.

Roseman Labs implemented its Virtual Data Lake solution, which encrypted the data at the source and fragmented it across separate servers. This allowed for secure, privacy-preserving analysis. Roseman Labs enabled the organization to gain valuable high-level insights into travel patterns, which will help promote public transport use and create a more efficient, less car-reliant transport ecosystem for the region.
