Bayer 04 Leverkusen, a Bundesliga soccer club, sought a new and innovative way to engage with fans and stand out from competitors. For the OMR Festival 2023, their challenge was to create a genuine connection between virtual content and the real world to offer a memorable brand experience. The vendor rooom provided its rooomPortal, an installation for augmented reality (AR) experiential marketing.

The rooomPortal allowed visitors to step through a physical, branded archway and use a tablet or smartphone to be instantly immersed in a 360-degree video of the team's stadium after a winning goal. This solution created a highly shareable "wow" moment, significantly strengthening brand perception and fan identification. The project was so successful that it won the European Metaverse Award for "Top Sports Brand Initiative," positioning Bayer 04 Leverkusen as a pioneer in immersive fan engagement.
