A Rookout Case Study
Flytrex, a fully autonomous drone delivery service regulated by the FAA, needed a better way to debug complex issues in production. Because its aircraft combine hardware, software, embedded code, and operations, many bugs could only be reproduced in the field, and FAA approval requirements made redeploying code changes difficult. Flytrex turned to Rookout to help investigate live issues without changing production code.
With Rookout’s live production debugging capabilities, Flytrex was able to pinpoint elusive bugs, including a race condition found during an in-flight test, and quickly understand whether it was safe to continue flying. Rookout gave Flytrex the ability to collect data from production on the fly, send information into tools like logz.io without code changes, and cut investigation time from a full day to a few hours or less, saving significant downtime and blocking time.
