LearnCube, an online education platform, faced soaring operating costs driven by its reliance on a commercial third-party WebSocket solution for real-time messaging in its virtual classrooms. To control expenses and enhance reliability, LearnCube engaged vendor Romexsoft to develop a more efficient messaging solution app for the education industry on AWS.

Romexsoft implemented a scalable real-time messaging system using Amazon API Gateway with WebSockets, AWS Lambda, and ElastiCache. This custom solution decreased LearnCube's monthly costs for messaging by almost three times, provided high reliability with guaranteed message delivery, and offered full observability through AWS CloudWatch.
