Cummins Generator Technologies (CGT), part of Cummins Inc., needed an independent expert to review bearing condition for life and durability assessment, investigate failure root cause, and evaluate new bearing designs. They engaged Romax Technology and its Bearing Consultancy Services to support these bearing-related challenges across existing in-service components and new bearing arrangements.

Romax Technology provided expert bearing consultancy, including visual inspections, dimensional and geometrical measurements, grease and metallurgical analysis, supplier comparisons, and testing of new bearing arrangements. The collaboration helped CGT identify failure causes, assess supplier risk, understand ceramic-coated bearing behavior, and develop best-practice design and validation guidelines—giving Cummins greater confidence in bearing decisions, though no specific numerical performance gains were reported.
