Orbitless Drives Inc. created OrbitlessTM, a novel fixed-ratio epicyclic geared system designed to be quieter and more efficient than conventional planetary systems. To prove the viability of this new gearing geometry, Orbitless needed a partner with the tools and expertise to adapt its platform for designs beyond traditional planetary and parallel-axis drives, so it turned to Romax Technology.

Romax Technology applied its advanced multi-physics simulation software to the complete system to develop both virtual and physical prototypes, helping validate low NVH and high-efficiency performance targets for the automotive market. The collaboration gave Orbitless unprecedented insight into its drivetrain design and new optimization opportunities, improving the conceptual and detailed design process, though the case study does not provide specific quantified performance metrics.
