Romax consulting and software support GKN Driveline to design low-noise high-efficiency eDrive gearboxes

GKN Driveline, a global leader in automotive driveline components, needed to develop more efficient eDrive transmissions for hybrid and electric vehicles without sacrificing durability or noise and vibration performance. To meet tighter development cycles and rising customer expectations, GKN Driveline worked with Romax Technology using RomaxDESIGNER software and consulting to improve gearbox design from concept through production.

Romax Technology helped GKN Driveline analyze the whole drivetrain system, identify the main power-loss sources, and optimize gear macro- and micro-geometry for better efficiency. The redesigned gearbox delivered up to a 2% improvement in overall efficiency across the target speed and torque range, including a 1–2% gain in coast conditions, while maintaining durability and NVH performance.
