Case Study: Hyundai WIA achieves faster, lower-cost geartrain development with Romax Technology

Romax Concept and RomaxDESIGNER drive more focused, streamlined and low-cost development of innovative products

Hyundai WIA, a Hyundai Motor Group company, needed a faster, more accurate way to design and develop multiple drivetrain and powertrain products with very different technical requirements. The challenge was to create a streamlined process that could handle concept development, detailed design, and whole-system analysis for gearboxes, 4WD parts, speed reducers, and related components. Hyundai WIA used Romax Technology’s Romax Concept and RomaxDESIGNER software to support this work.

Romax Technology’s tools enabled Hyundai WIA to analyze the full geartrain system early in development, from gear life and fatigue to efficiency, bearing loads, NVH, and durability, without relying on multiple software packages. The company said the biggest benefit was time savings and earlier design validation, helping support its “Agile Develop” process, reduce development cycles, improve Right First Time design, and lower time and cost while meeting ISO and AGMA standards.
