Digital Pitch Bearing Verification for the Wind Industry with Wafangdian Bearing Group Corporation

Wafangdian Bearing Group Corporation (ZWZ) needed a way to digitally verify large pitch bearings for the wind industry, especially to meet the strict virtual simulation requirements of a major global wind turbine OEM. Before working with Romax Technology, ZWZ struggled to develop a reliable simulation methodology for these complex bearings, which have no international calculation standard and are difficult to model accurately in general FE software. Romax Technology’s Romax Wind software was used to support the bearing analysis and verification process.

Romax Technology implemented a combined simulation workflow by integrating Romax Wind into a CAE tool chain, enabling rapid parametric modelling of the pitch bearing with fewer human errors. This reduced modelling time by about 5x compared with general FE software, and the full digital simulation and verification were completed in under two months. As a result, the OEM accepted the methodology and product, ZWZ won the deal, and Romax also transferred know-how to help ZWZ build its own simulation platform and evaluation criteria.
