Correlation Studies to Establish Integrated Validation Strategies

Volkswagen Group, Europe’s largest carmaker, needed a reliable validation strategy for gearbox noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) so it could make design changes with confidence and meet the high acoustic expectations of its brands. To tackle this challenge, Volkswagen’s Kassel transmission site used Romax Technology software for gearbox simulation and NVH analysis across development and validation stages.

With Romax Technology, Volkswagen implemented a step-by-step correlation process covering gear excitation, shaft systems, bearings, gearbox housing, and whole-vehicle testing. This gave the team a clearer understanding of where discrepancies arose, enabled faster model updates, reduced time-consuming investigation, and improved confidence in gear whine predictions; Volkswagen reported that the framework should also create time and cost savings for future projects while supporting proven, trustworthy simulation.
