Oman SCTP, a federal government planning organization in Oman, needed a better way to keep its mapping and imagery data current amid rapid national development. The lack of up-to-date orthophotos and a system to combine them with other data resources made it difficult to support effective planning and get full value from its geospatial investments, so it turned to Rolta International and its web-based GIS platform, OnPoint™.

Rolta International produced the required data resources and deployed an SCTP-specific configuration of OnPoint™ to access and overlay the new layers with other mapping data. The solution delivered 50cm orthophotos across 320,000 sq. km, DEM, transportation and hydrography mapping at 1:5,000, and community mapping at 1:2,000, enabling current data to be easily accessed for strategic planning, needs analysis, and map serving.
