Case Study: ACT improves student registration and peak-volume performance with Rolta International

A Rolta International Case Study

Preview of the ACT Case Study

New registration system improves service to students and ensures high-volume transaction processing

ACT, the education services organization behind the ACT test, needed to replace an aging, custom-built registration system that was difficult to change, didn’t support student self-service, processed online registrations in batches, and struggled to meet peak-volume demand. Rolta International (Rolta TUSC) was selected to help ACT modernize the process, using Oracle iStore and CRM/Supply Chain E-Business Suite modules along with Oracle Database 10g and RAC.

Rolta International implemented a high-volume Oracle-based registration platform with extensive customizations, integrations, and real-time interfaces to ACT’s seat availability and financial systems. The new system made ACT the central exchange for student data, enabled self-service changes and real-time seat assignments, supported international registration, and scaled to more than a million transactions per minute during peak periods. ACT also increased web registrations to 78%, grew overall registrations by 7%, improved financial visibility, and saved more than $500,000 in postage and printing in the first year.
