Mumbai Police, the law enforcement agency for Greater Mumbai, needed a better decision support system to optimize resource deployment across a city of 14 million people and 83 police stations. Rolta International was brought in to modernize police control room operations and build an emergency response system using GIS and GPS technology, including a computer-aided dispatch capability and related public safety tools.

Rolta International implemented a Distress Call Response Management System (Dial 100), computer-aided dispatch, GIS analytics for crime and incident reporting, automatic vehicle tracking for about 500 vehicles, and high-resolution mapping integrated with legacy police databases and control room systems. The solution helped Mumbai Police handle around 20,000 calls per day, reduced operator workload, improved planning and reporting, supported high-risk area analysis and VIP route planning, and delivered 24x7 support for five years.
