Middle-East Dubai Municipality needed a robust, highly available GIS platform to create a centralized yet networked repository of geographic information for the Emirate of Dubai. To support rapid urban growth, the municipality also required a flexible, bilingual (English and Arabic) system that could be upgraded without interrupting access. Rolta International was selected to help deliver the DUGIS and Data Services initiative.

Rolta International implemented a 3-part GIS solution with internet and intranet e-services, map embedding, and secure access to spatial data across the Municipality and Emirate. The solution added powerful search, measurement, and map markup features, along with data services for utility rights-of-way and geotechnical and network data management. As a result, Dubai Municipality gained more complete and effective data access, enabling staff to make better operational decisions.
