Bahrain Enterprise Asset Management System - Customer Case Study

Bahrain Enterprise Asset Management System (BEAMS), part of the Bahrain Ministry of Works in Manama, Bahrain, needed an enterprise-wide asset management system with geospatial functionality at its core. The challenge was especially complex because the ministry had to manage large asset networks, including 2,700 km of sanitary sewers, 3,000 km of roads, and hundreds of government buildings, while also importing consultant-delivered CAD content into GIS and related systems. Rolta International responded to the RFP with a solution built around its web-based geospatial platform OnPoint, integrated with Infor.

Rolta International implemented a CAD import framework using FME and ETL scripts to standardize multiple CAD file formats and preserve primary identifiers across the Asset Register, PMIS, GIS, and Document Management System. The result was a fully deployed and effective BEAMS solution that significantly reduced manual effort, improved data reliability, and created major savings for the Ministry of Works, while also earning recognition at industry events such as the 2012 Geospatial World Forum.
